Long-Term Organic Manure Substitution Increases Yield and Phosphorus Use Efficiency in a Double-Rice System by Altering Soil Phosphorus Uptake and Apparent Balance

The excessive use of chemical phosphorus (P) fertilizer can lower grain yield and P efficiency (PUE) by aggravating soil acidity. Substituting organic manure for alleviate the problem, although long-term effect incorporation is unknown. We conceptualized that substituting may result in higher crop yields PUE. Therefore, impact treatments: (i) CK (control), (ii) PK (phosphorus potassium fertilizer), (iii) NP (nitrogen (iv) NK fertilizer, (v) NPK (vi) NPKM (30% plus 70% manure) on rice yield, PUE, uptake, apparent balance (APB) was investigated. results showed under different treatments ranged from 6.2 to 11.8 t ha−1 (1984–1995), 7.9 12.7 (1996–2007), 6.6 12.8 (2008–2018). greatly improved compared other treatments, except with (1984–1995). Soil carbon (SOC), available activation coefficient (PAC) were significantly than during 1984–2018. pH (1984–2018) treatments. total PK, NP, NPK, (1984–2018). Compared uptake NPKM, (1984–1995 2008–2018). average PUE 10.7, 20.2, 36.1, 44.2 kg kg−1 respectively. APB as we conclude addition improving carbon, cations inputs be a factor increase pH, making substitution more efficient strategy increasing yield.
